CLINICAL PILATES - JERVIS BAY

Recover from injury,

build strength, and return

to the things you love.

Our Remedial Pilates classes are physiotherapist-led, supervised rehabilitation that gives you regular clinical oversight, so progress doesn't pause between appointments.

OUR DIFFERENCE

Part of a bigger picture

At Balanced, we don't believe in one-off appointments and sending you on your way. Our model of care is built around a pathway — from understanding what's going on, into guided movement, and towards long-term strength and independence. Remedial Pilates sits at the centre of that pathway.

Stage One

Physiotherapy

Assessment, diagnosis & treatment

We start by understanding what's going on — a thorough assessment to identify what your body needs and build a plan from there.

Stage Two

Remedial Pilates

Supervised, individualised rehabilitation

The bridge between individual treatment and independence — where your recovery builds real momentum, with your physiotherapist still in the room.

Stage Three

Group Pilates

Long-term strength & independence

When you're ready, you move into our Reformer or Mat classes — building long-term strength and the confidence to keep up with everything life brings.

It's the bridge between individual treatment and doing it on your own — where your recovery builds real momentum, with your physiotherapist still in the room.

When you're ready to move forward, we'll help you get there. And if something changes along the way, we're still right there with you.

HOW IT WORKS

The assessment is just

the beginning

Our Remedial Pilates classes are part of a structured care pathway — from understanding what's going on, to guided rehabilitation, to long-term strength.

01

Start here

Assessment

We start with an individual appointment to understand your injury, assess how you move, and work out what your body needs.

02

Your plan

Your Program Is Designed

Your physiotherapist creates an exercise program tailored to your diagnosis and goals, using the Pilates equipment that best suits your needs.

03

Get comfortable

Learn Your Program

Before joining a class, we run you through your program individually — making sure the exercises are right for your body and you're confident using the equipment. This looks different for everyone — some people need one session, others need a few, depending on injury complexity and confidence with the equipment.

04

Your recovery

Join Our Remedial Pilates Classes

You work through your own program under the supervision of your physiotherapist. They review how you present each session, adjust exercises if your symptoms have changed, and progress your program as you get stronger.

05

When you're ready

Move Forward

When your symptoms are stable and you're moving well, you can transition into our group Reformer or Mat Pilates classes, return to the gym, or get back to sport.

Are our Remedial Pilates classes

right for you?

  • You're recovering from an injury and need structured support to get back on track

  • You're experiencing pain that's limiting what you can do day to day

  • You've had surgery — or you're preparing for one — and need guided strengthening

  • You're pregnant and dealing with pain that's affecting how you move

  • You're finding that group classes don't accommodate what your body needs right now

  • You'd like the benefit of regular contact with a physiotherapist to guide your recovery.

You don't need to know exactly what's wrong — that's what the assessment is for. But our Remedial Pilates classes may be a good fit if:

Not sure where you fit? Book an assessment and we'll work it out together.

What our classes look like

Our Remedial Pilates classes run during school terms, in a supervised setting with your physiotherapist in the room.

You'll work independently through your own program — not alongside others doing the same exercises, but through a program designed specifically for you. Your physiotherapist reviews how you're presenting each session and adjusts as needed.

Depending on your program, you may use:

  • Pilates Reformer

  • Trapeze table

  • Split pedal chair

  • Therabands and weights

  • Foam rollers and other equipment

  • Mat-based exercises

Everything chosen with your recovery in mind.

Remedial Pilates - frequently asked questions

  • No referral needed. Remedial Pilates classes are open to anyone who's completed the initial physiotherapy assessment.

  • Yes. Remedial Pilates classes are semi-private and built around your body — your current presentation, any past injuries, your strength, your goals. The assessment is what makes the class different from a generic Pilates class. Without it, we'd be guessing.

  • One-on-one physio is hands-on, individual, and best suited to acute or complex presentations that need close attention. Remedial Pilates classes are how you build on that — your physiotherapist is in the room, but you're working through your own program in a small group. It's more clinical oversight than a group class, more independent than individual physio.

  • It depends on your body, your injury, and your goals. Some women move into group classes within a few months once their symptoms are stable and they're moving well. Others stay in Remedial Pilates longer because it suits how their body responds best. Your physiotherapist will discuss progress with you regularly, and the move into group classes is something you decide together.

  • You can attend casually, or book in for the term. Most patients come weekly. The intention isn't for you to stay in Remedial Pilates forever — the model is designed to move you forward, whether that's onto your own program, into the gym, or across to one of our group classes. Your physiotherapist will work with you on what comes next.

  • Our classes run during the school terms, and you can find our current timetable here.

  • You can claim through your private health insurance so long as you are treating an injury or pain, please see our fact sheet for all of the details here.
